Where the Wild Things Are

Where the Wild Things Are

From director Spike Jonze (read: Directors Label and Girl Skateboards video “Yeah Right!”) is the highly anticipated film version of the children’s book Where the Wild Things Are. As I’m sure anyone born during the early 80’s knows how amazing and inspiring this book was to us as young kids, it remains just the same with the release of this beautiful trailer. Perfectly set to Arcade Fire’s “Wake Up,” Spike Jonze builds a sense of curiosity as the boy and his Wild Things are running through surreal forests and lands while juxtaposing back to the kid’s parents house in a city.  The words Hope and Fear are inserted throughout the trailer making viewers question their own lives and evoking creative imagination to get lost beyond everyday lives. The film is set to be released in October and will be accompanied by a musical score from Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Justice † House by Planda

Architects are starting to break away from the their bubble and collaborating with other creative industries. There was Zaha Hadid with her temporary Chanel Exhibition, HWKN provided an environment for a Mini Rooftop NYC party, and now we have Planda, who designed a house for the French band, Justice. Check out the video of the Justice † House that everyone’s starting to blog about. This video, which takes us for a trip through their design process, is totally on beat with the jam that it is pretty much a music video to “Genesis.” It was featured on a handful of blogs, yahoo.fr news, Justice’s myspace page, and even Kanye West’s blog.

As a plus, people will probably find it easier to google them.  Now only having to deal with the residual reaction and bologna surrounding their recent name change, The Soft Pack are looking forward to sharing the stage with some pretty established names.  Already having played gigs at Amoeba Records, South by Southwest, and San Diego’s Street Scene, The Soft Pack are now in the midst of a busy schedule hitting up select cities in the States then heading across the pond for several shows in London and Barcelona.  They’ve even earned themselves a spot on the ATP Festival curated by the Kim Deal fronted Breeders.  The Soft Pack’s current tour itinerary is listed below.
