Prophet Snowboards

A relatively young and seemingly inspired company form Portugal has come up with, or at least attempted to realize and prophet from creating a more “rider/customer” involved board company.  Prophet Snowboards is based on the idea that everyone should be able to control what is on their snowboard.  The process is simple; create a digital copy of something you drew, painted, dripped ink on, or whatever, upload it to their site, specify your board dimensions, and then wait for you custom shred stick to come in the mail.

Portuguese designer Luis Porem has introduced some clever alternative functionality to the pseudo-intellectual spectacle.  These hollow, clear-plastic glasses can be filled with different colors of ink depending on your RGB or CMYK mood at the moment.  If flasks are too bulky for you, prepare a pair of these boozing bifocals with some potent potables and sip on them in a fashionably contemplative Sherlock Holmes-style pipe bite manner.

Band of Outsiders Spring 2009 Line

If George Lucas were to describe Band of Outsiders in the form of an idiosyncratic character, he would probably name it GQD2.  Drawing from both formal Ivy League DNA and casual colorful retro California, designer Scott Sternberg has warped classic prep styles with a feeling of comfort and ease.  Band of Outsiders has also collaborated with Sperry Top-Sider for a fresh reinvention of the classic boat shoe.

As a plus, people will probably find it easier to google them.  Now only having to deal with the residual reaction and bologna surrounding their recent name change, The Soft Pack are looking forward to sharing the stage with some pretty established names.  Already having played gigs at Amoeba Records, South by Southwest, and San Diego’s Street Scene, The Soft Pack are now in the midst of a busy schedule hitting up select cities in the States then heading across the pond for several shows in London and Barcelona.  They’ve even earned themselves a spot on the ATP Festival curated by the Kim Deal fronted Breeders.  The Soft Pack’s current tour itinerary is listed below.

Flight of the Conchords Season 2

The animalistic rappers, meticulous Bowie buffs, psychedelic princes, and lyrical ladykillers you might recognize as the Flight of the Conchords are returning to the small screen.  Bret, Jemaine & the folky bunch return for a second season starting January 18 at 10 p.m. on HBO.  If you can’t wait that extra month you can view the season 2 premier online starting December 15 at funnyordie.com (US only), December 22 at hbo.com, or December 23 at hbocanada.com.
